Short Stories and Plays

"The Mystery of the Class Clown"

This story appeared in the magazine Medical Detective. It is the story of Sammy Erons, a boy who has Tourette Syndrome, a neurological disorder whose symptoms include multiple facial, body, and verbal tics (sometimes including repeated cursing). In “The Mystery of the Class Clown,” Sammy copes with the taunts and teases of his classmates for making funny faces and noises until an understanding teacher helps him find an answer to his problem.

"An American Story: A Documentary"

During my teaching career I was put in charge of my school’s July 4th celebration program. Rather than have my students perform the traditional play about America’s birth (1776), I decided to write my own play. “An American Story: A Documentary” is a multi-media presentation, which includes dialogue, song, and dance and tells the story of America from 1776-1976.
